All you have to do is choose a discipline that best suits your interests.

MOTORCROSS

Loved BMX riding as a youngster? Do you crave the feeling of flying like Superman and at the same time enjoying the physical and mental demands of navigating tight terrain while racing? Look no further than motocross. No wonder this discipline is one of the most popular in the country, offering many technical challenges that test both rider and machine. Do you have an old thumper in the shed? Want to relive the glory days of vintage motocross? Then classic motorcross is your answer. There are numerous clubs in Australia that will cater for you and your classic bike.

SUPERCROSS

Part motorcycle race and part high-wire circus act, supercross is definitely a spectacle to behold. Sharing close similarities with motorcross, competitors in this discipline operate at the highest level in the country, ensuring fast-paced, challenging and entertaining racing for the crowds.

ROAD RACING

Road racing in Australia is the fastest-growing discipline and boasts the most categories: from 50cc solo bikes and sidecar machines, right through to superbikes and the highly developed and fettled grand prix machines. Just because a bike is older, doesn’t mean it can’t be raced! Historic road racing caters for classic bikes, and has classes set up specifically for the type of bike you have.

ENDURO

Enjoy thumping your way across fast, open and challenging tight bush tracks? A classic case of rider and machine versus the elements, enduro riders compete in events ranging from casual trail rides to Australian championship events. Usually, enduro events require bikes to be registered. A civil licence or permit is required in some states.

SPEEDWAY

Speedway ensures the exciting, non-braked and next-to-no suspension action is contained within an oval track where riders slide their lightweight, purpose-built bikes on a dirt track in very close-knit – elbow touching - racing. Speedway ensures both riders and spectators alike are well looked after!

MOTO TRIALS

Surprisingly, one of the most skilful tests of man and machine comes in the form of moto trials. Bikes designed to compete in this category are light, nimble and have extremely low gearing to help the rider negotiate seemingly impossible feats of motorcycling across any number of obstacles and obstructions. Speed is not the aim here, rather rider fineness, balance and planning are rewarded.

TRACK RACING

Tailored to the off-road enthusiast, this discipline ensures exciting racing over grass or dirt tracks up to 1800m long and of various shapes. To get started, riders need either a motorcross bike or a more specialised machine called a “slider”.

SUPERMOTO

Can’t decide between road racing and motocross racing? Supermoto is the delicate, yet action-packed blending of the two! Supermoto bikes can be set up at a minimal cost, and with a few small tweaks, allowing the rider to compete in enduro, motorcross and supermoto events!

QUAD RACING

As an emerging category of motorcycle racing in Australia, quad racing ensures that the four-wheeled cousin of the two-wheeled variety has not been left out of the action. Competitors in this discipline race their machines over a multitude of events and terrain including motocross, enduro and dirt tracks.
