Kevin Pietersen has hit back at Darren Lehmann for comments made about the Melbourne Stars batsman.
The Australian coach took to Twitter on Tuesday night following the Stars’ Big Bash League semi-final loss to the Scorchers and bagged Pietersen’s performance after the former England player managed just five runs.
"@KP24 @tensporttv @BBL time for stars to move KP on, spent to much money on him and didn't win. Don't want to listen to his excuses anymore," he wrote.
Never mind the fact Pietersen has been the Stars’ best batsman and is rated second in the league behind supremo Chris Lynn.
"I can only do my best for the Stars and I think I've done pretty well, Pietersen said.

"First year I shared player of the year, second year I was player of the year, this year I have top-scored.”
Pietersen had been critical of Cricket Australia during his BBL commentary regarding selection decisions and the fact one-day matches were scheduled on the same days as the BBL.
The 36-year-old is heavily involved in the promotion of the game with fans enjoying his candid assessments and insight.
"I also think that the Stars probably wouldn't have got involved from a team or a campaign (perspective) in such a huge way for the rhinos (an anti-poaching awareness initiative) if I didn't offer anything to the franchise,” he said.
"So I'm very happy where I am, I love playing in Australia, I love playing for the Melbourne Stars and it's like home to me."
Stars boss Eddie McGuire also hit out at Lehmann, telling the Aussie coach of Pietersen's importance to his franchise and the game.
