Benji Marshall is set to sign with the Broncos for 2017 but will spend the majority his time in the Queensland Cup.
The premiership half is poised to sign a one-year deal with the Broncos after Wayne Bennett offered the 31-year-old an NRL lifeline.
Marshall’s Dragon’s contract was not renewed after he knocked-back a $300,000 one-year contract extension.
Bennett’s deal is believed to be tiny in comparison, just $100,000, with the former star set to play in the Intrust Super Cup.
Marshall is unlikely to feature in the Broncos top flight with star halves in Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt leading the way.
The former New Zealand captain is close to the master coach with the pair orchestrating the Kiwis’ 2008 World Cup win.
Marshall will provide depth and likely deputise during the Origin period.
