19th annual event a hit at Sydney Cricket Ground.
The stars came out to dine and have fun at Northcott’s 19th annual Cricket Legends Lunch, held at the Sydney Cricket Ground just days before the start of one of the most anticipated Cricket World Cups in memory.
The lunch was a great opportunity for quests to rub shoulders with a stack of cricketing greats and current stars such as Australian women’s cricketer Alex Blackwell, and to relive past glories and discuss current cricket news – both on and off the pitch. It was a chance for diners to learn more about Northcott’s much-valued and long-standing recreation program and its impact in communities across NSW and the ACT.
Former Test cricketers Michael Bevan, Doug Walters, Phil Emery, Wayne Seabrook, Brian Taber, Greg Matthews, Peter Philpott and Barry Knight appeared at the lunch.
Prominent cricket commentator Mike Coward acted as Master of Ceremonies at the event, and even had time to quiz a panel of big names including Bevan, Walters, Matthews and Blackwell.
All funds raised from the dinner went to Northcott’s Recreation Service, which gives hundreds of children and adults living with a disability the chance to take part in sporting and social activities they may otherwise miss out on.
Proudly supported by charity partner Cricket NSW, over the past 19 years the lunch has raised more than $1 million for people with disabilities. Cricketing greats to have attended include Richie Benaud, Brett Lee, Allan Border, Ian Healy, Glenn McGrath, Ian Healy and Mark Taylor.
