The NRL's ambitious plans to continue the 2020 season are looking likelier as the governing body meets to finalise the structure of the impacted competition.

According to Sydney Morning Herald "...a Sydney-based, 15-round season is the preferred option".

The second option of a two-conference system was met with opposition by the RLPA and the code's players who were apart of the conference call with the ARL.

NSW teams, players and staffs will remain unaffected but border restrictions interstate and in New Zealand will force other teams to arrive in Sydney and self-isolate individually for at least two weeks.

The code is hoping that by then travelling throughout the country will be less impacted, though the Warriors will be given travel exemptions from both the Australian and New Zealand governments, but a 14-day quarantine will still be necessary.

Though according to the Courier-Mail, Queensland clubs are stressing and appealing with their superiors to keep themselves north of the border.

"The Broncos, Cowboys and Titans have appealed for the NRL to keep them in Queensland, expressing concern for the mental health of their players if ordered to go into a self-isolation program in Sydney," wrote journalist Peter Badel.

North Queensland Cowboys chief executive Jeff Reibel hoped for a fairer outcome to support his club's needs.

"We will listen to all options naturally, but our preference is to stay in Queensland," he said.

"It's a huge ask for our players to go into self-isolation in Sydney. My priority is the welfare of our players and their families.

"I'm no pandemic expert but the larger the group in one cluster, the greater the risk of infection I imagine."

An announcement is believed to be made tomorrow or at the latest near the end of the week as insiders believe that a complete relocation to Sydney is the way forward.
