Corey Payne has stood down as Panthers CEO after just four months in the role.
It is understood the 32-year-old had ruffled the feathers of several of the Panthers' leading stakeholders due to his arrogant approach which reportedly upset fellow CEO’s, the NRL and the RLPA.
Penrith confirmed they had accepted the resignation of Payne, who wishes to pursue overseas business opportunities.
Panthers Group CEO Brian Fletcher has slotted back in as acting CEO of the football club, a role he had held in the past.
The off-field drama is not expected to detract from the club as they attempt to cement a place in the eight with a third-straight victory against the Tigers on Friday night.
Payne played 131 NRL games for the Dragons, Tigers and Bulldogs before retiring at 28.
