Matt Renshaw has detailed the circumstances surrounding his infamous dash to the toilet on Day One of the Test against India.
Australian opener Matt Renshaw ran from the field on day one against India with “Delhi Belly”.
Things were looking good with Renshaw piling on 36 runs before the “Code Brown” alarm was sounded in Pune.
Renshaw looked visibly shaken and scrambled to the change rooms after consulting with the umpires.
“It came pretty suddenly,” Renshaw said.
“Probably five or 10 minutes before Davey got out. I asked Richard (umpire) how long it was until lunch and he gave me the answer of half an hour and I was struggling a bit then. It wasn’t an ideal situation to be in.
“He (captain Steve Smith) wasn’t too thrilled about it but he understands that when you need to go to the toilet, you’ve got to go to the toilet (laughs). It wasn’t an ideal scenario as I’ve said, but, it’s life, pretty much.”
India captain MS Dhoni sympathised with Renshaw’s untimely bowel movements.
“When you have to answer the nature’s call, no amount of will power or mind control can control that,” he said.
