He may not have been able to convert his pole position into a win in the opening Supercars race at Hidden Valley on Saturday, but David Reynolds got the job done in fine style in the second race the following day.
Having finished a solid third on Saturday, Reynolds moves back into championship calculations and leaves Darwin third outright in the points behind Shane van Gisbergen and leader Scott McLaughlin.
The Erebus Motorsport Holden Commodore driver set the tone right from the start with an aggressive getaway that saw him overall McLaughlin and the Nissan of polesitter Rick Kelly. Reynolds was never seriously challenged from there.
“My car was amazing today,” Reynolds said. “I couldn’t fault it, magnificent. This has been the best weekend for us in a long time. The whole weekend has been magical.”

McLaughlin, having won Saturday’s race, was lucky to finish second in a DJR Team Penske Falcon that was overheating and suffering an oil leak.
“It was pretty hot going there,” McLaughlin said. “The engine was hot, I was hot, there was a lot going on there. It was a pretty solid day for us; we will take that and run.”
Defending champion Jamie Whincup trailed McLaughlin home in third. Whincup is currently fifth in the points, behind Triple Eight team-mate Craig Lowndes and a substantial 433 points adrift of leader McLaughlin.
