Cronulla has received a major boost just days out from the start of the 2017 season with Opal Solar becoming the clubs’ naming rights partner.
Not having a sponsor for the pre-season is said to have cost the club tens of thousands in merchandise sales.
The deal is believed to be worth around the $1 million-a-season and is one of the most lucrative in the game.
The money comes at a time when the club, despite winning the premiership, copped a $600,000 loss last year.
“Opal Solar has a clear vision to become the number 1 supplier of solar panels in Australia and to continue to broaden their business and brand. Their hunger and aspiration to reach the very pinnacle of their industry is strongly aligned to our own Club’s focus on becoming the Club of Choice in the NRL,” Sharks CEO Lyall Gorman said.
“In addition, their major focus on making our environment a better and healthier one is strongly aligned with our own club’s focus and commitment to being a catalyst for true social impact and change across our community.
“We look forward, with a great sense of anticipation, to sharing the journey ahead with this exciting brand and to making a true contribution and difference for all.”
