Brisbane have not claimed a premiership since 2006- an eternity for Broncos supporters who were gifted six titles in the club’s first 18 years of existence.

They won those flags between 1992 and 2006 (1992-93, 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2006) as the game’s most successful side during that period.

And with a $42 million empire due to a monopoly of the game in southeast Queensland, fans are running out of patience.

When Bennett took over in 2015 he said it would take three seasons before the club would be in contention to claim a title and went agonizingly close to doing so in his first year back at Red Hill when Brisbane lost in golden-point time to the Cowboys.

A top-four finish has given the Broncos a second chance after last week’s loss to the Roosters.

And should Brisbane lose to the Panthers at Suncorp Stadium tonight, Bennett’s plan is dust.

“He would be hungry for another title,” five-time Broncos premiership-winner Kevin Walters told the Courier Mail.

“No coach has won more premierships. If there is any coach who knows what it’s all about at this time of the year and what has to happen this week, it’s Wayne Bennett.

"He will be thinking the Broncos are capable of winning it.”
