Erebus Motorsport V8 are facing a $300,000 fine after a driver and a major sponsor quit the team as a result of contractual disputes.
Aaren Russell needs to be replaced before this weekend’s round at Ipswich’s Queensland Raceway after he terminated his rental deal this week.
Russell’s major sponsor Fitness Plus also pulled the plug as the naming rights sponsor for the Erebus owned and operated car No.4 worth $100,000.
Erebus could face $150,000 fine for each race the team cannot find a replacement.
It has been reported Russell ended the contract of Aaren Russell Racing which leased Racing Entitlements from Erebus Motorsport V8 and also paid running costs.
