Warne posted the video to his Facebook page following the Australian v South Africa Test.

Other passengers include former Australian captain and Channel Nine cricket commentator Mark Taylor and former Australian wicketkeeper and fellow commentator Ian Healy.

Taylor and Healy were both wearing seatbelts.

Tasmania Police Acting Inspector Ian Mathewson confirmed police were investigating.

Warne, Slater and Pietersen face $300 fines while Taylor, who was driving, faces a $300 fine and three demerit points for allowing the three to travel without seatbelts.

Mathewson said the former cricketers could be cautioned adding they "won't be treated any different than any other individual".

He said the video "does send the wrong message", especially as police had launched their Stay Safe seatbelt awareness campaign in October.

Warne's video had been viewed over 117,000 times as of Thursday afternoon.
