Max Verstappen and Red Bull triumphed in what could generously be described as a processional 2025 Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutch ace started from pole position, courtesy of a spectacular qualifying lap in the dying moments of a session in which he’d mostly never looked like troubling the top of the time sheets. McLaren was left to rue what could have been after both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris made errors on their final Q3 runs, leaving the door open for Verstappen to claim pole. The result leaves Lando Norris with a slender point lead in the driver standings with Aussie Piastri a further 12 points further back.
