Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has slammed his sorry side after their record 54-0 demolition at the hands of Manly, admitting the Eels "did not have a go".
Parramatta were completely dominated at Lottoland, falling behind 24-0 at half-time and then conceding another 30 points in the second half.
Arthur didn't mince his words after an awful afternoon.
"I told them I was surprised," he told reporters after the game.
"I didn’t see it coming, not this week, last week, next week, any week. We’re very embarrassed by that performance. There was only one team playing today. We weren’t playing the same game.
"We just didn’t play. We just did not have a go. They’ve [fans] got every right to be disappointed and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We need to show respect for ourselves, we need to show more respect for our club and our fans."
It was the Eels' second straight loss in the NRL in 2018, after a defeat to Penrith in round one.
"Me going in there carrying on like a pork chop is not going to help anyone," Arthur said.
"We’re all hurting, we’re all embarrassed but we need to do something about it. Our attitude wasn’t great. You don’t play like that if you come ready to play."
