Wayne Bennett has slammed Jordan Kahu for an inexcusable mistake which the mentor believes could have cost the Broncos victory.
Up 7-0 against the Bulldogs and applying the blow torch in the second half, Canterbury opted for a short drop-out which went just five mentres.
If Kahu had left the ball, his side earns a penalty in supreme position.
Instead, the winger picks up the ball and dives over for what he thought was a try.
The Bulldogs are awarded a penalty and score off the next set.
They eventually ran out 10-7 winners leaving Brisbane with a 2-3 start to the season and well outside the top eight.
“It was a pretty crucial moment in the game,” Bennett said.

“If you look at his game overall, he had a really good game. But he’s played enough football to know what the rules are. It’s no else’s fault.
“He’ll be disappointed like the rest of us will be. The issue is it swung the momentum of the game. They scored in the next set. Then they grew an arm and leg and scored a couple of sets again later.
“We had to fight our way back. We gave ourselves a real chance but it didn’t happen.”
Match-caller Ray Hadley added: “I tell you what I’m thinking. I’ve been calling football for 35 years, I’ve never seen it, I’ve never seen it in 35 years.”
