Roosters captain Boyd Cordner says Mitchell Pearce’s possible departure will not cause a rift within the playing group.
Pearce is understandably upset after Maroons star Cooper Cronk signed a $2 million two-year deal with the club on Monday.
The 28-year-old’s future at Bondi remains in doubt with the halfback weighing up his future over the next three weeks while holidaying in the United States with his partner.
Manly and Cronulla have expressed strong interest in Pearce should he want out, with the NSW No.7 expected to be relegated to the bench if he stays in the Tri Colours.

Pearce held talks with coach Trent Robinson on Monday.
Cordner said should Pearce leave due to Cronk’s arrival, he didn’t expect a fallout between the playing group and the Queenslander.
"I don't think so. It's ultimately Pearcey's choice. He's gone away now to get away from everything and to think about it," Cordner told Fairfax.
"I'm here to support Pearcey and respect his decision whichever way he wants to go, but at this stage it looks like he'll be a Rooster."
