Cooper Cronk admits he is fit enough to play on next season after announcing 2017 will be his last with the Storm.
Cronk signed a two-year deal with the Storm last year with an option in his favour for 2018.
The 33-year-old has played 306 games for Melbourne since joining the club in 2004.
He is moving to Sydney at the end of the season to be close to his fiance' and Fox Sports presenter Tara Rushton.
He won last year’s Dally M Medal and the Golden Boot award.
“I have not contemplated that thought (playing on next year) and I am being completely honest,” Cronk said.
“I feel like I could play on…once you are retired you are a long time retired. There will be some conversations around that but I don’t have a timeline on when I want to make that decision.
“The last four to six weeks has been all about this decision and I haven’t given too much thought to the next one. I feel comfortable enough to think that I can play on but I don’t know the answer to that question.
“I need a balance outside of that (football) and I don’t have that here. I get on a plane and it’s just getting harder to get on that plane to come back. In the best interest of this club I am making this decision.
“Sometimes there is more to life than football. I am jealous of the guys who have their family’s here. I have to prioritise my future.”
Cronk has helped the club to five grand finals and one premiership.
