Troubled NRL star Kieran Foran has taken aim at the media for its treatment of the 25-year-old throughout a tough 2016 as he prepares for a comeback with the Warriors.
Foran signed a one-year deal with New Zealand last week believed to be worth about $600,000.
He earned more than double that at the Eels before being released from his four-year contract for personal reasons earlier this season.
The Kiwi international had been linked to the NRL match-fixing saga with good mate Eddie Hayson, however he is believed to have cooled the relationship on advice from the game and those close to him.
And after some soul searching, Foran took to social media to thank his supporters while also taking a shot at the media.
"I just want to express my appreciation to all of the people who continually send me well wishes and positive comments. It doesn't go unnoticed," he wrote on his Instagram account.
"I am incredibly disappointed in the media prying into my personal life, especially my families. They choose to write stories based on total lies. I want to assure you, I have done nothing wrong.
"I have been very open about my struggle with health issues and asked for time to concentrate on rebuilding my life.”

Foran, who had been reclusive during his time away from the game, said he was getting back to where he mentally needs to be to handle the rigours of professional sport.
And with his contract yet to be registered with the NRL, the governing body will need to rubber stamp the deal before he can return.
It is believed he will have to prove he is of sound mental health and able to handle the ensuing stresses of the NRL.
"Every day I wake up with a positive outlook, but then I read my name in the headlines,” he wrote.
“This makes it very difficult to move forward with a positive mindset. Yes I accept that I am in the public eye as a footballer.
"Despite having to deal with the unwarranted media attacks, I am remaining focussed on coming back stronger than ever.
"Initially, footy was the furthest thing from my mind and I needed time away from the game.”
"More recently, the desire to play again has completely returned and I'm very keen to make a big contribution."
