Canterbury are preparing for Will Hopoate’s absence at fullback due to his religious beliefs.
Hopoate’s Morman faith means he does not play football on Sundays with the star back having missed games in the past.
Should the Bulldogs finish outside the top four, they will play on a Sunday in the first week of the finals, and have been training with Brett Morris at fullback to cover for the unavailability of Hopoate.
Coach Des Hasler agreed to the request when signing Hopoate who had the clause inserted in to his contract stating he would not have to play on Sundays.
“I have played a lot of football there, it is not an issue for me,” Morris said on Monday.
“These days you train in a few positions. You are not just accustomed to playing one position.
“You have to feel comfortable in a range of positions, it is not something I am worried about.”
The NRL Grand Final is always played on a Sunday meaning that should the Bulldogs make the big dance, Hopoate would likely not play.
Canterbury face South Sydney in the NRL’s final round on Friday night.
