Mark Webber recently made news by announcing his departure from F1, then made even more news when his tyre came off in the pit lane at the German GP and clocked a cameraman in the back. Webber’s open seat at Red Bull had touched off all sorts of fun speculation for the rest of the season – would Kimi Raikkonen be lured across, etc. In the end, fellow Aussie Daniel Ricciardo was promoted (we wonder if Sebastian Vettel got a say). As for actual racing, the Italian GP (Sep 6-8) is on the menu this weekend, and we might even see the long-awaited new tyres from Pirelli that the drivers and teams have been hanging out for.
