Inside Sport's new Fitness Coach hub is up and running.

Meet Rob Forte and Kara Webb, the fittest man and woman in Australia. How can we make this claim? Because they not only practise Crossfit daily, and not only instruct in it, but they also compete in it. And when they compete in it, they usually win. In 2014, at the Regional event held in Wollongong, New South Wales (a kind of South Pacific championships), Rob took out the men’s titles and Kara came second in the women’s, both qualifying to represent Australia at the World Crossfit Games - now a bona fide sport in its own right, broadcast live on ESPN.
At the World Crossfit Games in 2014, Rob had his best finish ‒ 12th. Which also made him the highest-placed non-American. On the women’s side of the draw, Kara Webb got off to a blinder and was leading the field after the first day, but dropped to second by day three and then had to sadly withdraw on the fourth and final day due to an injury. But she has vowed to come back bigger and better next year.
That journey begins here, documented in these articles. And you can join it! In this series of Crossfit tutorials, you can benefit from Rob and Kara’s knowledge and experience to have your own crack at this fabulous new sport.
A gym workout is now a sport? That’s Crossfit. The competitive aspect is a powerful motivational tool for Crossfitters to make incredible gains in strength, mobility and endurance – and amazing changes in body shape. And that goes for everyone – not just the elite. No matter your age or current fitness level, a Crossfit gym is the perfect place to take your fitness off the scale.
A final word of comfort: don’t be put off by the competitive element. You will never find a more supportive bunch than your fellow Crossfitters. And coaches like Rob and Kara are always on hand to steer you through the Workouts of the Day.
