Hundreds have gathered at the funeral of rugby league great Brett Kimmorley’s wife, Sharnie, at Sutherland today.
Sharnie passed away last week aged just 38 after a battle with brain cancer.
The mother of four was honoured by those in attendance which included NRL CEO Todd Greenberg, as well as past and present players Paul Gallen, Michael Ennis, Scott Hill, Matt Geyer and Jim Dymock.
Sharks CEO Lyall Gorman was also there to lend support to Kimmorley and his daughters.
Kimmorley amassed more than 300 games across six NRL clubs during his illustrious career.
Greenberg said the game would do its best to provide support to the Kimmorley family during this difficult time as they come to terms with the death of the loving wife and mother.
“The game has the ability to wrap its arms around Brett and his daughters and support them not just today or tomorrow but for a long period ahead,” Greenberg said.
“Brett knows that. He knows the game has its arms around to help as best we can.”
