England prop Chantelle Crowl accused Kelly of biting her forearm late in the first half prompting officials to walk onto the ground and take a picture of the alleged marks.

The match review committee will determine if Kelly will be charged before a possible hearing on Monday night.

England skipper Andrew Dobson was certain her team mate was bitten.

“I saw it. She had a clear mark on her arm like she had been (bitten),” Dobson said.

“They’ll go back and look at it but she certainly wouldn’t say it for nothing at all.”

Australian coach Brad Donald said such incidents were out of character for the 21-year-old.

“I can’t see that she would have done anything intentionally and she’s a really good girl,” Donald said.

“I can’t see that she would have done too much but we’ll let the match review committee have a really close look at it.”

The incident marred a stunning Jillaroos victory which ensured they will finish top of pool A.

It’s the third biting incident during this World Cup after Papua New Guinea’s Wellington Albert and England’s Jermaine McGillvary were both accused of biting in the men’s tournament.

Both were subsequently cleared.
