Steve Menzies is set to climb Mount Everest for charity.
The Manly legend and much-loved personality will set off on Saturday for the 14-day trek to help raise funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF).
The ‘MHF Everest Challenge’ team includes Matty Johns, Bill Peden, Danny Buderus, Matt Gidley, Kurt Gidley, Paul Harragon and Mark Hughes.
Menzies has set up a ‘EverydayHero’ page where supporters can make donations for the Mark Hughes Foundation. Almost $2500 has been raised to date.
“I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of Mark Hughes Foundation and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in 2017 Everest Trek,’’ Menzies told the Sea Eagles' website.
“Please help me help them by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about Mark Hughes Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot.”
Lottoland has outlayed money Menzies and the Foundation.
“Lottoland is proud to get behind ‘Beaver’ and the Mark Hughes Foundation, pledging a further $7,500, to such a great cause,’’ said Matthew Brinckley marketing director Australia.
“Despite recent media reports, Lottoland continues their support of charity and contribution within the community. We have a three-year commitment to Manly and we fully intend to honour it and hope to renew.
"We encourage other sponsors of the Sea Eagles to support this great cause."
