Anthony Mundine will not stand for the national anthem before fighting Danny Green on Friday night.
His move has led broadcaster Fox Sports to contemplate playing the anthem before the boxers take to the ring.
"It's a racist anthem and doesn't represent our people. It's disrespectful to our people," the controversial Indigenous Australian boxer told News Corp on Monday.
Mundine pleaded with Jessica Mauboy, who will sing the anthem, to not go ahead with it.
"They are just using her because she is black," Mundine said said.

"I'll have no choice but to take a seat," Mundine told The Daily Telegraph.
"This is close to my heart. I like Jessica, but it's not for our people.”
Mundine said he was not trying to “divide” people but was simply doing what he believed was right.
"First and foremost I want to focus on the fight,” he said.
"I'm not trying to divide people.
"My people are still being oppressed. Nothing's changed ... the anthem isn't right. It's not for all Australians.
"I can't stand up for something I don't believe in."
