The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal with Cronulla after the Bulldogs failed to offer him a contract extension at the end of last year.

The 120kg-190cm behemoth won a premiership with manly in 2011 before earning caps for NSW and Australia.

But his four years at Belmore were marred by inconsistency as Des Hasler failed to get T-Rex to fire.

He was dropped to reserve grade and then snapped up by the Sharks for a bargain basement price.

Williams managed 162 first-half metres against Illawarra last Saturday before an injury cruelled him of a second-half appearance.

Now recovered, Williams said he was still up to NRL standard.

“I’m ready to go, but it’s up to the coach whether he thinks I’m good enough to play,” Williams tells NSWRL.com.au.

“If I do get that call-up, I’ll take it with two hands, and I’ll do my best for the club. It’s a club that won the competition, there’s a lot of high expectations there still.

“The team there that won last year, it’s largely the same team that ‘Flano’ (Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan) is playing.

“There was that slight (injury) hiccup, I couldn’t get back on in that second half (against Illawarra), but it’s nothing serious,.

“But I’m feeling good. The body felt good in that first half. I’ll be definitely right to go this weekend.

“I’m just hoping to get that NRL chance.”
