It was the Aussies who seemed to be making all the noise in week one at Wimbledon, especially one Nick Kyrgios, who these days is caught in the headlines after every match he contests.

The young Aussie, though, has certainly been backing up his words; some trademark performances ensuring he was the last Australian to exit the men's championship. Kyrgios has had several clashes with umpires and line officials throughout his short career, but at Wimbledon he exhibited to the world why he is being touted as a future world number-one with impressive wins over fellow young gun Milos Raonic and tour veteran Juan Monaco. Kyrgios' good mate, Bernard Tomic, ran into a red-hot Novak Djokovic, losing to the world number-one in the third round. Meanwhile, big-serving Sam Groth went down to Roger Federer also in round three.

Lleyton Hewitt bid farewell to the All-England club as a singles player, losing in the first round to Jarkko Nieminen. However, he then teamed up with fellow Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis to compete in the men's doubles, with the pair reaching the third round after some impressive performances.

The biggest shock to come out of the first week was Rafael Nadal losing in the second round to 102-ranked Dustin Brown. The upset of the tournament condemned Nadal to his first loss in the first week of Wimbledon in his career. Britain's great hope, Andy Murray, cruised through the early stages of the tournament, as did French Open champion Stan Wawrinka.

In the women's tournament, Sam Stosur and Casey Dellacqua both bowed out in the third round, meaning no Aussie reached the second week of the draw. Unfortunately, 2014 finalist Eugenie Bouchard lost her opening round match, as her career continues to spiral downwards. Things went from bad to worse for the 21-year-old when Bouchard was handed a dress-code violation for a black sports bra worn underneath her dress (the All-England club has a strict all-white dress-code). Defending champion Petra Kvitova was bundled out in the third round, losing to former world number-one Jelena Jankovic.

Both Williams sisters breezed into the second week, with Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka also progressing to the fourth round.
