Ricky Stuart has marked Tom Trbojevic as the danger man ahead of Friday night’s clash between Canberra and Manly.
The fullback has been dynamite for the Sea Eagles this campaign, averaging almost 200m a game.
His support play is phenomenal as well as his try assists which have Stuart wary.
“Young Trbojevic at the back really creates a headache defensively and sits at the back and the inside of the footy and plays on the edge – he’s a wonderful talent,” Stuart said.
“They’re a very good attacking side, Manly, and I know Trent (Barrett) will be jumping right on top of some of their deficiencies they’ve had in defence over the past couple of weeks.”
Manly’s left edge defence has been woeful which Melbourne exposed in last week’s 30-26 win with the Storm using Blake Green, Brian Kelly and Jorge Taufua as turnstiles.
“They’ll be a lot better again, they came home very well in that second half against Melbourne and it’s a sign of respect to our team this year, that every time they play us they prepare to play well and actually have played well,” Stuart said.
“They are going to ask a lot of questions for us to answer defensively because they are a good instinctive footy team in attack and have shown they can score points.
“I think they are a better football team than where they are sitting on the table (ninth) to be honest.”
And after last week’s 20-8 win over the Warriors, Stuart said his team were hurting.
“This week’s focus has just been on preparation and getting some energy back in the bodies because that was a very physical, tough, fast game last week,” he said.
