Australia’s sporting magazine, Inside Sport - an important part of the Australian sports media landscape since 1991 - has reached its triple ton with the release of its December 2016 issue.
That’s right, for 300 months now Inside Sport has continuously delivered the best long-form sports journalism and sports photography Australia has to offer, and this special milestone edition is certainly no exception.
Opening the line-up this month is international star Tim Cahill. He’s played the biggest stages of the footballing planet, but now the “Prince Of The City” is home – and isn’t the light blue half of Melbourne happy about that!
Seeing as though we’ve turned 300, we thought it would be a good idea to collect a trio of cricket thinkers to muse on the significance of the number in the grand old game. After all, 300 often draws the line where performance begins to push into elite status, whether it’s a Test batsman in an innings, or a bowler boasting a career-worth of vanquished victims.

Still on cricket, we’ve borrowed a chapter from Mitchell Johnson’s new book, in which the former faster bowler recalls a highly visible low point at Lord’s during the 2009 Ashes.
Meanwhile, Sydney Kings coach Andrew Gaze’s basketball career has taken on many forms during the life of our magazine. Through our special feature story on this country’s greatest-ever player, it’s great to see him back in the NBL drawing on a lifetime of lessons on the sideline.
Plus, with the event being held on our shores, we discover the World Cup’s place in the golfing universe, catch up with new women’s world surfing champ Tyler Wright, and find out from Aussie skipper Meg Lanning why there should be more women’s cricket Tests.
