The Stewart brothers face off while the Roosters win eight in an row
The race for the finals got a whole lot more interesting after a gripping round in the National Rugby League.
Kicking off at Brookvale Oval on Friday night, where for the first time ever brothers Brett and Glen Stewart faced off against each other. It was Brett who claimed bragging rights after Manly continued their late resurgence with a 28-8 win over the Rabbitohs. Also on Friday the Bulldogs won a tight contest in Brisbane, beating the Broncos 18-16.
Once again Super Saturday started "across the ditch" in Wellington where the Dragons smashed the Warriors 36-0. Meanwhile, the Sharks have proved they will be real contenders come finals time, defeating the Cowboys 30-18 who missed the chance to go outright first after the Broncos loss. The night concluded in Darwin where the Eels beat the Panthers in a dour affair 10-8 all but ending the Panthers finals chances.
On Sunday, Storm young gun Cameroon Munster stole the show scoring a hat-trick in the his sides 36-14 win over the Titans. While the Roosters won their eighth game on the trot, as they were too good for the Knights winning 38-22. Finally, the round concluded on a chilly Monday night in the national capital, where the Tigers put a dent in the Raiders finals hopes beating the Green Machine 20-18, in a game which saw David Shillington sent off late in the game for a headbutt on Tigers enforcer Aaron Woods.
