With the gruelling swim and bike legs out of the way, we’re up to the all-important run home in Inside Sport’s annual grassroots sports awards.
There’s plenty of triathlon talent among the finalists of our five categories – Best Club, Best Coach, Best Stalwart, Best Sports Association and Best Masters Performance.
Our Best Club category features Wilston-Grange Triathlon Club and the South Bank Triathlon Club, both proudly waving the flag high for Queensland.
Lars Olsen (BMee Triathlon), Steve Arnold (Mackay Triathlon Club), Brian Patrick Harrington (Triathlon/Aquathon/Running - Hervey Bay Triathlon Club) and Pamela Pemberton (Free Radicals Triathlon Club) have all been named finalists in the Best Coach category.
Meanwhile, Jenny Merrick of the Bass Coast Barracudas has reached the finals of the Best Masters Performance section.

At Inside Sport, we understand the success of our great champions comes from the support of the weekend warriors and the volunteer army who keep the engine of community sport ticking over. Grassroots sport is the heartbeat of so many Australian communities, bringing people together in healthy competition, keeping them active and building friendships.
But these legends in their own backyards often go unrecognised. Our magazine has partnered with the Confederation of Australian Sport, the representative body for 90 national sporting organisations, Polar and The Net Return High Performance Training Nets, to find the unsung champions of Australian sport and reward their clubs from a prize pool totalling more than $10,000.
We’re not necessarily looking for the club or coach with the most wins or the best performances. We want to reward dedication, integrity and sportsmanship. We want to honour those figures whose stories are repeated around the club, because their stories lift their sport up.
Voting continues until April 10, with the winners announced on May 18. CLICK HERE to vote for your favourite grassroots sport finalists now!
